Newport Farmers' Market

Open Saturdays, year-round
Summer Market - outdoors (next to city hall) - 9 am to 1 pm
Winter Market - indoors (county fairgrounds exhibit hall) - 10 am - 2 pm

Local organic growers, market gardeners and green thumbs bring their fresh produce to the market. Saturday mornings you will find them busy setting up their tables with the season's best. Early in the season the tables are loaded with peas, lettuces, greens, radishes, new potatoes, and herbs. Later, the season brings varieties of berries, peppers, broccoli, peaches, pickling cucumbers, carrots, corn onions, squash, tomatoes, apples, and much more.

The Newport Farmers' Market has more than produce and garden blooms. You will find beautiful arts and crafts, unique services and fun events. Hand made soaps, knitted and felted hats, garden art, wooden planters, beautiful jewelry, tie dye clothing, photography, art glass, and much, much more. You can also get a massage and listen to great music! All of the handcrafted items at the Market are made by local artists. A fun place to shop for the perfect gift.

Tall Ships

Event Description
The brig Lady Washington, the official tall ship of the state of Washington, and her companion vessel, Hawaiian Chieftain, are stopping in Newport from May 14-26, 2015. The ships will arrive at the Port of Newport and offer tours, excursions, and education programs for elementary school students. The ships will be open for visits on Memorial Day, May 25.

Battle Sails are recreations of a typical 18th-century naval skirmish between two ships. Adventure Sails are family-oriented experiences with a chance to raise a sail or take the helm of a real tall ship, conditions permitting.

Lady Washington is the official ship of the state of Washington. Hawaiian Chieftain accompanies Lady Washington on her voyages. Both ships are based in Grays Harbor, Wash.

Newport Marathon

Event Description:

The Newport Marathon will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2015. It brings in about 1,250 runners and about three times as many spectators, who line up along side streets, the Historic Bayfront and areas with ocean views. There's also a special category for walkers.

Aside from being a major attraction and sports event, it's a benefit for the Newport Boosters Club, where proceeds go to the club's help with sports and other activities at Newport High School. It's also a nice boost to the local tourism economy when summer hasn't quite kicked in yet. For more information please visit

Special shuttles will be provided for the crowds, to take them to various areas of the race. New this year: the road along Yaquina Bay will be closed until 1 p.m. to allow even safer access for spectators. At the finish line - the Yacht Club on the Bayfront - awaits beer, chowder, t-shirts and even a live band for watchers and participants.

Event Description: The biggest plant sale and show of the season on the Oregon coast comes to Newport from 9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. on Saturday, June 20th. The sixth annual Oregon Coast Gardening & Landscaping Expo features over thirty Northwest plant sellers offering a wide variety of great plants, trees and shrubs including the unusual and rare plus garden art too. The extremely popular gardening and landscaping seminars return with top guest speakers! The Lincoln County Master Gardeners again be operating their Master Gardener Help Center featuring soil testing and readily available to answer your questions. Lunch is available for only $5. Event Description: The Oregon Salmon Commission and the Port of Newport will be presenting Salmon Enchanted Evening, a salute to Oregon wild-caught salmon! The highlight will be a gourmet evening of amazing Oregon wild Salmon created dishes, fabulous sides and delightful wine from the Sokol Blosser Winery of Dayton, plus a very special dessert from the amazing My Petite Sweet Bakery of Lincoln City.. Chefs include Ralph Pesznecker of Timberline Lodge, Erol Kanmaz and Leslie Champion of Northwest Culinary Institute and local fishermen & award winning amateur chef Corey Rock.

Also scheduled will be a wonderful big band concert performed by the famed Lincoln Pops Big Band, a major classic car show featuring the American Street Masters and the Bay City Cruisers. And the grand finale, the best spot in Newport for viewing the awesome 4th of July fireworks!!!

Barrel to Key Relay

Event Description: Sign up soon for the Barrel To Keg relay race on Saturday, July 18th, 2015. This "Race Against Poverty" starts at the Harris Bridge Vineyard west of Philomath and finishes at Rogue Ales Brewery in Newport. The route runs through 69 miles of some of the most beautiful back roads of the Oregon coast range. Anyone can run or walk this relay! Teams of two to seven people will run 69 miles or walk 35 miles. The entry fee is $55 per person. Don't worry if you don't have a team, we'll get you matched up! Solo ultra runners are welcome, too. Proceeds from the race benefit Community Services Consortium, a public nonprofit organization that has been helping the people of Linn, Benton and Lincoln counties overcome poverty for over 30 years. Event Description: The Young Professionals AMAZING RACE is coming to Newport on Saturday, July 25. Starting and ending at the Newport Performing Arts Center, the Amazing Race will have two person teams solving clues, finding locations, completing challenges and racing through Newport in order to cross the finish line. Teams can be made of 2 women, 2 men or co-ed and at least 15 years of age. This is an event for all physical ability levels! Registration will open in April. Event Description: It's back for the 4th great year, the amazing Great Albacore Tuna BBQ Challenge presented by the Oregon Albacore Commission and the Port of Newport! Over 30 teams will be competing for $3,700 in prize money and your admission allows you to sample all of their incredible tuna culinary creations. Plus sample delicious ales from the Pelican Brewery and enjoy a major classic car show featuring classics from the collection of the Bay City Cruisers and Rollin' Oldies.

Tickets are $15 adult, $10 student & $5 youth for Saturday's competition and are available online or at the door (if any remain).
