Event Description: Newport Lions Club and NEWPORT EAGLES ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday April 19th at the Yaquina Bay State Park. The Newport Lions Club will hide 200 pounds of candy and the Newport Eagles will hide 200 dozen colored hard boil eggs. Both Clubs will also have some hidden plastic eggs that will entitle the finder to a prize. There will be three separate areas, organized by age. Ages 2 to 5 will be near the playground. Ages 6 to 8 will be near the Fisherman's Memorial Sanctuary. Ages 9 to 11 will be near the Yaquina Bay Light House.

The park is located in Newport at the North end of Yaquina Bay Near the outlet to the Pacific Ocean and near the Yaquina Bay Bridge.

Rain or shine, we will start promptly at 9am. Arrive well before the start time, generally everything will have been collected within 15 min. Make sure you bring a basket or bag to collect your treasures.

The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Banquet & Balloon Auction at the Best Western Plus Agate Beach Inn.

With over 250 Chamber Members attending this event, it's a great opportunity to advertise your business. At the same time, it's a way to treat yourself, your employees & friends to an evening filled with fun. You will be served a fabulous dinner and have the opportunity to bid on hundreds of silent auction and live auction items that include vacation packages, tickets to sporting events, golf vacations and much, much more.

With a theme of "Jewel Of the Nile" the event promises to be an extravagantly fun night! Come as you are or dress in your favorite Ancient Egyptian - inspired garb. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.

Ticket prices include $45/individual or $395/table of eight. Purchasing a table includes eight tickets, sponsorship recognition and table advertising for your company.

Donations from merchants are being requested for the silent and live auction. No donation is too small or too large. The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the organizations who have already donated. Event Description: Annual Easterfest is coming to Yaquina Bay State Park ! ! ! ! Easterfest is coming again to the north entrance of Yaquina Bay State Park, Government Street side, Saturday, April 23, 9:15 AM, immediately following the Community Egg Hunt.

The celebration at the Friendship Station (a trailer/stage) includes clown and puppet skits.

Kids can dive in straw for candy/scripture filled plastic eggs and, if weather permits, participate in other activities such as face painting and carnival type games.

Coffee, tea, cocoa, and donuts will be available before the egg hunt and during Easterfest.

Additionally, tickets will be handed out prior to, and during the activities for prize drawings which include family Easter dinner baskets and children's Easter baskets as well as other give-aways.

Along with our annual parade, the Newport Loyalty Day's festivities this year will again include the Field of Flags, the Queen's Coronation, Davis Show Carnival, car shows hosted throughout town, Coast Hills Running Club's Fun Run, Vietnam Veteran's remembrance with our annual Reading of the Names, Field of Flags and the Coast Hills Mt. Bike Race are many activites you will find in and around Newport during this weekend.

Loyalty Day was originated by the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) on the East Coast, with Newport's Veteran's starting our local Loyalty Day celebration in May of 1956. As the celebration continued to spread throughout the nation, Congress wrote a Joint Resolution and President Eisenhower signed the Bill into law designating the First of May as Loyalty Day, a special day set aside for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom.

With Newport's strong support of the Loyalty Day tradition, it's designation as a Coast Guard City USA, it's world class Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, headquarter's for NOAA's Marine and Aviation operations, lighthouses, galleries, restaurants, hotels and of course the magnificent Pacific Ocean, Newport offers fun for the entire family.

Event Description: Newport is bringing mountain bike racing back to the Oregon coast! We have an awesome course designed with gorgeous ocean views, meadows, sick downhill, gnarly single track, killer climbs, and what's sure to be a wet & muddy course!

This event is brought to life by a public-private partnership in the true spirit of community. Bike Newport, the Newport News-Times and other local volunteers are volunteering alongside staff from the Newport Parks and Recreation Department to breathe new life into this old race, formerly known as the Ben Eder Memorial.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the youth programs scholarship fund at the Newport Recreation Center. Which allows children from economically disadvantaged households the opportunity to participate in a number of fantastic programs.

This year's race has been entered into the Oregon MTB XC Series. The series is made up of 10 races starting on April 6th and ending June 29th. The Coast Hills Classic Race is race #3 in the series. Each race in the series will be raffling off a Jamis Bike Frame that is worth $900.

Event Description:

Migrate to Lincoln County on International Migratory Bird Day May 10, 2014. The Central Coast is well known for exceptional birding from woodland to shore and marine birds. For a variety of bird species their migration ends here on the coast as they begin to establish nesting sites. For many others this is just a stopping point as the continue to trek north. Several Bird Walks are planned in the morning along the whole length of the county. Bird enthusiasts should then "migrate" to Newport, Oregon located in the center of the county to where a variety of activities, events and bird watching activities will be offered throughout the midday and afternoon. Guided bird activities will focus on beginner and intermediate birders, are family friendly, and a number of events will have Spanish Interpreters.

Event Description
The tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain have published their California, Oregon, and Washington schedules for January through June, 2014, and the schedules include multiple opportunities for unique adventure travel experiences. Called "Passages," these trips, which range from a few hours to several days, feature a one-way 18th century hands-on experience from one port visited by the ships to the next on their schedule. Here's the current list of ports from January 22 to July 6, 2014.

May 15-19: Newport, OR (LW only)
May 19-26: Newport, OR (both ships)

Pricing for port-to-port Passages range from $67.50 to $500 per person, depending on the Passage length. Passages are recommended for experienced travelers accustomed to limited facilities only. For overnight Passages, guests are assigned a watch and may be asked to assist with ship operations. Meals and a bunk (no bedding) are included in Passages longer than five hours. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Passages are not recommended for children five and under. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling 800-200-5239.

Each port stop includes opportunities to tour the vessels and take two-to-three hour sailing excursions. Educators at public and private schools are encouraged to book now for one-hour and three-hour hands-on history education programs for K-12 students. Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain are also available for charters, including weddings, motion picture and television productions, photo shoots, and corporate events. The 8th Annual Brewers Memorial Ale Fest will be held in Newport, OR with benefits going to local Oregon Coast charities. Last year 3,200 people and 810 of their best friends attended the festival. The festival was created in memory of Rogue Brewmaster John Maier's faithful companion Brewer, who passed away on May 20, 2006. Brewer grew up in the brewery and eventually rose to the rank of CEO of Rogue Ales. Event Description: The Olalla Lake Off-Road Tri features a course that is hard to beat. This race is characterized by gnarly hill climbs, both the bike and the run course feature some seriously fun and challenging hills, and if we could add one to the swim, we would! The reservoir is a pristine lake surrounded by tree covered hills, and the view from the top of the bike course is nothing short of breathtaking.
