Local organic growers, market gardeners and green thumbs bring their fresh produce to the market. Saturday mornings you will find them busy setting up their tables with the season's best. Early in the season the tables are loaded with peas, lettuces, greens, radishes, new potatoes, and herbs. Later, the season brings varieties of berries, peppers, broccoli, peaches, pickling cucumbers, carrots, corn onions, squash, tomatoes, apples, and much more.

The Newport Farmers' Market has more than produce and garden blooms. You will find beautiful arts and crafts, unique services and fun events. Hand made soaps, knitted and felted hats, garden art, wooden planters, beautiful jewelry, tie dye clothing, photography, art glass, and much, much more. You can also get a massage and listen to great music! All of the handcrafted items at the Market are made by local artists. A fun place to shop for the perfect gift.

Red Octopus Theatre Company presents William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, April 3rd - 26th, 2015, at the Newport Performing Arts Center.

One of Shakespeare's wildest and most madcap comedies! Bianca, the desirable younger daughter of the very wealthy Baptista Minola, is Padua's most eligible bachelorette. But there's a problem. Baptista won't let anyone marry Bianca until her sharp-tongued older sister, Kate, is married off. Two of Bianca's suitors hatch a plan to persuade a friend to woo and wed the wild Kate. Meanwhile Bianca's suitors disguise themselves as her tutors to gain access to her, while one of their servants disguises himself as his master to arrange a match with Bianca's mother.

Event Description: The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday April 4th at the Yaquina Bay State Park. The Newport Lions Club will hide 200 pounds of candy and the Newport Eagles will hide 200 dozen colored hard boil eggs. Both Clubs will also have some hidden plastic eggs that will entitle the finder to a prize.

There will be three separate areas, organized by age. Ages 2 to 5 will be near the play ground. Ages 6 to 8 will be near the Fisherman's Memorial Sanctuary. Ages 9 to 11 will be near the Yaquina Bay Light House.

The park is located in Newport at the North end of Yaquina Bay Near the outlet to the Pacific Ocean and near the Yaquina Bay Bridge.

Rain or shine, we will start promptly at 9am. Arrive well before the start time, generally everything will have been collected within 15 min. Make sure you bring a basket or bag to collect your treasures.

Originally started in the late 1930's to boost tourism with a free Crab dinner, the festival has evolved to include our traditional hometown parade, the queen's coronation, Davis Show Carnival, Vietnam Veterans remembrances with the annual Memorial reading of the Names, and numerous other activities hosted throughout the city by our businesses and nonprofits alike.

Event Description: Come for a race, stay for an aquarium adventure! Every participant in the 3rd Annual Flippers, Feathers and Fins 5k and Kids Dash will not only take part in a fun race, they will receive free entry to the Oregon Coast Aquarium for the rest of the day and a race medal to show off their accomplishment!

This 5K (3.1 mile) route will start and end at the Oregon Coast Aquarium and includes running through the Aquarium to the finish line. This event is perfect for the speedy, the slow and everyone in between. The Flippers, Feathers and Fins 5k seeks to promote healthy lifestyles on the coast and proceeds will benefit animal care programs at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

The Kids Dash is a fun way to get kids ages 2-9 involved in their first race too, teaching them about fitness and giving them a chance to cross a real finish line. This closed course is perfect for your little athlete.
