Winter Market - indoors (county fairgrounds exhibit hall) - 10 am - 2 pm
Local organic growers, market gardeners and green thumbs bring their fresh produce to the market. Saturday mornings you will find them busy setting up their tables with the season's best. Early in the season the tables are loaded with peas, lettuces, greens, radishes, new potatoes, and herbs. Later, the season brings varieties of berries, peppers, broccoli, peaches, pickling cucumbers, carrots, corn onions, squash, tomatoes, apples, and much more.
The Newport Farmers' Market has more than produce and garden blooms. You will find beautiful arts and crafts, unique services and fun events. Hand made soaps, knitted and felted hats, garden art, wooden planters, beautiful jewelry, tie dye clothing, photography, art glass, and much, much more. You can also get a massage and listen to great music! All of the handcrafted items at the Market are made by local artists. A fun place to shop for the perfect gift.

Historic Nye Beach Mystery WeekendSaturday, March 14, 2015

Visit Nye Beach for its Mystery Weekend! This Family Event begins Saturday morning when sleuths purchase mystery packets for $10 each at Nye Cottage, 208 NW Coast Street, Nye Beach, between 9am and 2pm.
Sleuths will visit participating business to collect clues and interrogate the suspects between 10am and 5pm, with solutions due by 5pm on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Nye Cottage.
The mystery is written by a local author. Sleuths may choose to work alone, in pairs, or even groups to determine: Who committed the murder!
This year's mystery is "The Haunted Trailer," taking place in 1978. It centers on the murder of Indi Cent, a resident of the 10 Commandments Mobile Village who is found dead in the arms of her boyfriend, Robin Steele.
Saturday, 7pm, the big reveal will take place at the American Legion 424 West Olive Street, Newport, where Inspector Fillmore Cells will name the murderer, the murderer's motives, the chain of events that led to the murder, and the evidence that caused the sleuth(s) to reach a conclusion.

Event Description: Loyalty Day was originated by the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) on the East Coast, with Newports Veterans starting our local Loyalty Day celebration in May of 1956. As the celebration continued to spread throughout the nation, Congress wrote a Joint Resolution and President Eisenhower signed the Bill into law designating the First of May as Loyalty Day, a special day set aside for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom.
