Famous composer Ernest Bloch lived in Newport for the last quarter of his life, from 1941 to 1959. Bloch's home will be the site of the 50th anniversary of his passing, featuring a series of tours, lectures, displays, and musical events.

How do fish communicate/ What techniques do scientists use to study fish? You will learn the answers to these questions and more as we delve into the incredible world of fish! Campers will learn what fish ned to survive and how to set uo and take care of an aquarium. We will investigate current fisheries research at the Hatfield Marine Science Center and visit the Oregon Hatchery Research Center. Campers will learn how and why researchers collect data and even do some sampling of their own in this facinating camp.

Newport Is the kickoff for the Oregon Tuna Classic Tournament event series. Entrants will depart from both the Port of Depoe Bay, as well as the Port of Newport. South Beach in Newport will play host to the tuna check in, as well as the festivities including a BBQ hosted by Rogue Brewing.

Proceeds go to the Oregon Food Bank® and Ducks Unlimited®.

Explore the watershed as we travel from a small creek to the sea. Discover how it is all connected and how organisms depend on the various enviroments for survival. Campers will visit a local stream, the estuary, and a tidepool area to find out what inhabitants have in common.

Explore the ocean environment from the surface to the deep in this fascinating camp filled with field trips and hands of labs. Campers will learn about technology and techniques used in ocean exploration and have the opportunity to design their own ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) for observation and data collection.
